Hey there!

From left to right: Jennifer, Linq, Zach, Melly, Yoshi – not captured is our newest baby parrot, Togi!

Designs by Timber and Twine was started by two silly folks who enjoy turning our hobbies into ‘jobbies’!

We live in southern IL, and when we aren’t working our day jobs or our hobbies, we enjoy playing online games together and visiting with our four parrots!

How did we start?

Zach has always enjoyed wood working, and for many years sold bird toys. During the 2020 shut-in, business majorly picked up, and a lot of time was spent out in the barn working together to keep up with sales! I (Jennifer) could only help with some parts like drilling and sanding, and so I started to create wood cut out LED designs based on our beloved game, EverQuest! After the first prototype was made, off to the manual scroll saw it went!

Sixteen designs later, we opened our Etsy page.

Once the shut down ended and life started to return to normal in early 2021, we began to look at and ‘scope out’ craft shows, wondering if maybe we could do them too. Our focus at the time was mostly Zach’s woodworking, where he made beautiful exotic cutting boards, coasters, phone stands, etc. My crochet was just an extra aside and a way for me to join in, as I’m not much of a wood worker.

After a lot of planning and prepping, we had our first craft show in September of 2021!

We participated in quite a few shows between the end of 2021 and all of 2022. The woodworking went well, but the crochet really piqued peoples interests! We started to think that crochet wasn’t so potentially niche as woodworking items, things wouldn’t be as expensive for customers, and we both enjoy more ‘nerdy’ things… so we decided to try our hand at a comic con in September of 2022. Zach even learned to crochet to help me keep up with everything!

Our first con was a massive success, and frankly we enjoyed it a lot more than a normal craft show! We decided that this was going to be our ‘THING’, and for the last year+ we have been busy bees making all the nerdy things we can think of and have been vendors at Comic Cons far and wide!

What’s Next?

Our most recent large development has been the addition of a new beloved diamond tipped drill, and thus the ability to make acrylic LEDs! We introduced a new line of EverQuest designs on our Etsy Store in time for Christmas, and they did amazingly!

We are excited and eagerly looking forward to a new year of designs by Timber and Twine! 🙂
